(Hosting-NewsWire.com, November 13, 2012 ) Houston, TX -- Computer giant Microsoft Corp. is planning a new educational program in India. Technical and nontechnical colleges will be able to take part in a program to support placement of interns and improve employability. Last year, IT industry association Nasscom found that as little as 25% of technical graduates were employable. MBA employability was put at 21% by a study in August by MBAUniverse-Merittrac. The Microsoft program is intended to connect with colleges where its certifications and training will be offered. The company will offer technology free or at a subsidized rate for schools in the program, said Microsoft India’s managing director, Sanket Akerkar. “Employability is a major challenge for companies and also for colleges,” Akerkar told The Economic Times. He announced the Ed-vantage program in Pune and said colleges can contact the company to apply to take part. “With the Ed-vantage program, we have a structured way for colleges to work with Microsoft, use our technologies and training programs, and enhance skills in their students to become both employable and innovative,” Akerkar said. Microsoft will offer different levels of partnership in the program, with different benefits. They will include free training, internship placement and listings on Microsoft’s portal. For colleges to be eligible, the must use only licensed versions of Microsoft software. Rural areas also will benefit from the business skills education brings, Akerkar said, noting one village where students attended a college. “These students now are walking in and developing apps,” he said. “They had the right IQ and right logical capabilities. All they needed was access to right technologies and training to help them grow with the industry. “We now have a structured program where we can give them that access,” Akerkar said. Students in the Microsoft program will be able to take certification tests later at subsidized rates. The company said its portal will help with job placement. About AzumaLearning.com:
