(Hosting-NewsWire.com, September 16, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA- In an effort to urge web users to choose Bing as their primary search engine, Microsoft has partnered up with Amazon, making Bing the default search engine on the Kindle Fire.
While Bing will be the default search engine on Amazon’s new line of Kindle Fires, users will have the option to change the default engine to their own preference if they desire.
Microsoft’s search engine has not been able to compete with Google in the past. Landing this particular deal with Amazon enables Microsoft to introduce their search engine to an entirely different segment of users.
Last week, the ‘Bing It On’ campaign by Microsoft allowed users to do a side-by-side comparison of the search results with those of Google. According to independent research, the search results of Bing defeated Google by 2 to 1.
Microsoft wishes to continue such efforts as they want Bing to become the primary search engine choice of users. No doubt the ‘Bing It On’ campaign that was conducted in the U.S. helped this cause.
Director of Bing, Stefan Welts, told searchenginewatch.com, “Bing is committed to delivering a multi-platform strategy to better meet the needs of our customers, including the new Kindle Fire devices.”
He added, “The mobile and tablet space is increasingly important, and Bing’s mobile search strategy remains focused on enabling customers to easily discover, access, and use the information, answers and local content they need and want – anytime and anywhere with the convenience of their mobile device.”
Nevertheless, neither Microsoft nor Amazon was willing to disclose the terms of the agreement of their partnership. Many believe that Microsoft paid a handsome amount to make Bing the default search engine on the Kindle Fire.
