(Hosting-NewsWire.com, August 21, 2012 ) Kansas City, MO -- According to the US Census Bureau, more than 50 percent of the US population earns less than $46,000 a year, but the creators of a new video game designer website say they have information that could help Americans, who are employed, unemployed, or still trying to find a career, make more money and have fun at the same time.
“Considering a career as a video game designer is definitely something to look into,” said Dillon Hedrick, spokesman for VideoGameInsiderJobs.com. “A video game designer is one of the most popular, highly desired, though misunderstood jobs in this industry.”
Video game designers are becoming more specialized as the industry expands and video games become more complex and diverse.
“Brainstorming and birthing new game ideas makes only a small portion of a video game designer job description,” Mr. Hedrick continued. “There are a lot of specialized designers and titles across this industry that manage and work on certain parts of a game.”
A video game designer salary is listed as one of the highest paying occupations in the nation. According to IGDA (International Game Developers Association) the lowest paying video game designer salary with two years or less of experience is $50,000.
More experienced or upper level video game designers earn approximately 80,000.
“This includes senior designer, lead designer, and creative directors with approximately six years or more of experience. Their average is $57,500 and the highest can reach up to $200,000.”
Salaries, however, can also vary wildly from city to city, state to state, and region to region. The west region, being the highest, can earn as much as $13,000 more than the northeast region and as much as 16,000 compared to the south.
