(Hosting-NewsWire.com, July 23, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA - Resonate, an audience targeting firm, did a recent study which shows that advertisers can reach insomniacs online through the help of time-targeted advertising.
This study shows that insomniacs are more likely to spend at least 40 hours a week online by 30 percent as compared with the Online Adult Population (OAP). It shows that people who are experiencing insomnia use their computers, tablets and phones to watch television online.
In particular, insomniacs are more likely to watch television on their PC than the OAP by 34 percent, to watch from tablets by 31 percent and to watch through cell phones by 24 percent.
Resonate’s VP of Marketing, Kathy Sharpe, suggested that pharmaceutical brands which sell sleeping aids might be interested in targeting people who are suffering from insomnia online. Sharpe also mentioned brands of mattresses, consumer electronic and energy drinks.
The study also shows that 23% of insomniacs are more likely to watch television via tablets. 13% use phones to watch television. Moreover, 10% of insomniacs are more likely to watch television using a computer.
This study covers more than 4,500 respondents. 694 of the respondents are self-identified insomniacs. Those who identified themselves as insomniacs are then weighted for gender, age and income. Around 14% of the study is made up of insomniacs.
Furthermore, this study shows that insomniacs are more likely to be ladies, more likely aged 35-54 and more likely to be divorced.
Resonate also suggest that marketers can buy day-parted ad which could target insomniacs overnight.
