(Hosting-NewsWire.com, January 29, 2015 ) London, UK -- Child Abuse? Care home kids? MP's and other so-called pillars of society involved in all of it?
Not the easiest subject for a crime thriller, but for chiropractor-turned author Stephen Davison the themes were as exciting as they were surprising.
"I don't plan anything," he says. "I write and see where it takes me. Much of the subject matter just appears and so it's as unexpected to me as anyone reading it."
The centre of all this attention is his new crime thriller novel THE HUNTED KIND. The zeitgeist qualities in it are obvious. What with the Savile enquiry, the child abuse allegations up in Rotherham and, in the last few weeks, the fuss around alleged abuse of care home kids by MP's at Dolphin Square, the theme is very current.
THE HUNTED KIND is the third in a crime series set in London with City police detectives Varcy and Kendrick, who have become quite well known in the Kindle-sphere. The first two books in the series spent over 60 weeks on Amazon's bestseller list for Kindle titles.
"I was grateful to see them do so well," says Davison. 'Unexpected of course. It's very unusual for an unknown crime writer to make a splash. Watching them climb the charts week after week was very exciting."
Indeed. The first two have sold around 200,000 Kindle copies with almost no publicity. So what's the secret?
"The stories are fast and they twist a lot which people seem to like,' says Davison. 'Varcy and Kendrick have evolved too. I think readers like that. Their working relationship is the peg that the stories hang off."
What about mainstream publication?
"Maybe," says Davison. "But the kindle platform gives me control on everything - when it's released, how it's released, cover design and so on. I doubt I'd get anything like that by partnering with a large publisher. So I'm happy with the way it's all going at the moment."
So he should be. Treat yourself to a copy of THE HUNTED KIND here, released on Kindle Jan 2015.
