(Hosting-NewsWire.com, July 06, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- Korean Mobile Network provider SK Telecom and its umbrella company SK Planet in partnership with Japanese companies KDDI and Softbank Mobile brings NFC couponing services to the Shin-Okubo community in Tokyo, where there is a large number Koreans living.
Over 100 stores in the NFC zone can download discounts and coupons through tags embedded in “smart” posters and flyers and use them in the stores to receive their offers and free services. The new service was built into the SK Smart Touch platform, which is an open API-based system that manages NFC services.
The only thing KDDI and Softbank Mobile subscribers need to do is install the area’s mobile app on their NFC phone before they begin tapping the flyers to receive special offers directly onto their phone. To redeem coupons, they touch their phone against an NFC readers in the participating stores and print the coupons.
The platform can do a lot more than offer coupons and discounts. Users can also tap their phones to carry information on tourist attractions, business phone numbers and websites and suggest popular shops and those related to the ones a user has shopped at frequently.
