(Hosting-NewsWire.com, April 09, 2013 ) England, UK -- Mobile devices continue to be utilized more often, as searches from desktops become less prevalent.
That is a conclusion from the newly-released Neustar Localeze/15miles/comScore Local Search Study that utilized over 3,000 U.S. Adults that they stated use the Internet in order to search for local businesses.
The tally of U.S. Searches that originated from mobile phones grew by over 26% from March 2012 to the end of the year. That places mobile searches at over 113 million searchers, up from 90 million. The totals from tablets was up 19% from April 2012 and December 2012.
Meanwhile, desktop searches fell by 6% from November of 2011 to November 2012. According to the study, mobile phone searches are now more likely to cite directions, key information, and basic maps. Searches stemming from tablets provide a higher content-focused result, as they are more likely to find consumers online promotions and helpful information pertaining to the sites.

The study did not specifically cite an corresponding rise in mobile devices, so it is not clear if those who are former desktop users are switching, or if it simply younger users never utilizing a desktop at all.
