(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 28, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- The release of “The One”, which is the new flagship smartphone for the Taiwanese tech giant HTC, has reportedly been delayed due to a component shortage, according to inside sources.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the holdup may be stemming from something to do with HTC's less-than-quality performance on the international smart-phone market. The Journal reported that "HTC has had difficulty in securing adequate camera components as it is no longer a tier-one customer."
The highest tier of customers being referenced are the Samsung and Apple audiences, who account for more than half of all global smartphone shipments, according to the most recent numbers. Compared to them, HTC is but a small fish. In fact, the company has fall off the list of the top five smartphone manufacturers worldwide.
"Reading between the lines of the corporate-speak reveals a pretty shocking admission that HTC is not in the cool-kids club anymore," notes Eric Mack of CNET, "at least in the eyes of the industrial supply chain that makes the magic happen."
The company is betting large on the HTC One, which is shown as a sleep, sharp phone that is powered by the Qualcomm quad-core processor. The early reviews of the device had, up to this point, been almost wholly positive.
Stunning, elegant, innovative, mind-blowing, gorgeous, loud, beautiful, and fun are just some of the adjectives I could use to describe the HTC One," raved Matthew Miller of ZDNet."I have tested hundreds of phones over the years and in my opinion the HTC One is the best-designed phone I have ever used."
Even with such great reviews from men like Miller, it will not mean much if the company cannot get the product off the ground in a timely manner and to its waning customer base.
