(Hosting-NewsWire.com, September 25, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA- Nintendo has announced a new application to stream video to television – TVii. The software will let users view content from a variety of Internet-based providers, including Netflix and Hulu.
The TVii news came with the announcement of a November 18 launch date and price for the Wii U. A basic package, including a GamePad controller and 8 GB memory, will cost $300. A deluxe will feature 32 GB and the Nintendo Land game.
Wii U users will get free access to TVii. Owners will be able to browse or search for content from sources such as a TiVo account, Hulu, or Netflix through the GamePad’s touchscreen. If the user has cable or satellite television service, TVii will allow live streaming to television. Any cable and satellite provider will be supported, Nintendo says.
Nintendo North American President Reggie Fils-Aime described TVii at a New York City event. Users also will be able to browse programs recommended by friends or Nintendo, as well as view free content on YouTube. The GamePad will be able to access additional information after shows have begun (for example, data from Wikipedia or IMDB.com). TVii will also allow users to share video segments through the Miiverse, the Wii U’s social network, or through Twitter and Facebook.
