(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 18, 2012 ) Denver, Co -- The online seascape is constantly changing to better serve the online surfer. Relevance is king, no longer dictated by shoddy backlinks but by content relevant to a search- The ultimate goal of all search engines.
The most recent change with Google has been both their crackdown on blog networks and their changing relevance to anchors in content published on 3rd party websites.
Press Release Monkey’s Mark Bauer reflects on the recent changes in a blog post on their website which can be found here: http://www.pressreleasemonkey.com/googles-recent-updates-and-how-to-use-anchors-in-your-press-release
“From a webmaster standpoint it doesn’t make sense to us how people consciously go against Google’s web spam polices then gripe when it comes back to bite them... If you want to play the game
then you have to play by the rules,” says Mr. Bauer.
This sentiment is reflected by a lot of successful “white hat” companies on the net. “Do right, follow the rules, and you’ll be rewarded for it,” seems to be the trend in the second quarter of 2012.
And what of the changes to anchors? “Some people think using anchors in a press release will get you slapped by Google but this is not true,” reflects Mr. Bauer. “Google simply said that they would be changing the way they weigh anchors in their algorithms- not that they would penalize their use. Still though, we suggest deep linking in your press release, interspersed with some raw URLs- This seems to get the best results from the search engines”.
As Google stands at the masthead of organic marketing the whims of their algorithms destroys businesses just as quickly as they make them. With entire blog networks literally going out of business overnight, the feeling in the news marketing niche is quality over quantity. “Google is there for the user,” says Tyson Crisp, CEO of Press Release Monkey. “We have to remember that their main goal is to give their readership quality sites in their results pages. One of the ways they judge this is by judging the quality of backlinks, press releases as well as the quality of their on-site presentation. For us it’s all about quality- And that approach has been working both for our own websites and for those of our clientele.”
