(Hosting-NewsWire.com, December 17, 2012 ) Oakland, CA -- As the world watches the clock tick down to the end of the Mayan calendar, many are left wondering what it all means. Some speculate that its the end of time, or end of the world for us here on Earth. Why else would the Mayan's, who were so adept at astronomy, end their calendar on 12.21.12?
As it turns out, the Mayans were just counting down to The Phenomenauts' "Day After The End of The World Party". That's right The Phenomenauts, Bay Area phenoms, are hosting a live show for anyone who is 18 and older that has survived the Mayan apocalypse.
Anyone who finds themselves in the San Francisco Bay Area the day after the end of the world is invited to join Angel Nova, lead singer of The Phenomenauts, and his galaxy traveling crew as they ring in a new era. There is only one stipulation. The location of the event is undisclosed, so the only requirement is those who wish to attend must find the location of the venue by whatever means is available to them. Here is a hint, it's at The Phenomenauts "Command Center" in the SF Bay Area. Be sure to dress "apacolyptic"!
The Phenomenauts or "Nauts", known for their insanely fun, unique, inventive live shows formed in the year 2000. Since then, they have managed to build a fun, loyal cult following. The Phenomenauts are a futuristic science fiction themed band with a self dubbed brand of music called "rocket roll". Fans of The Phenomenauts call themselves cadets, and make their own uniforms to attend live shows when the "Nauts" are on tour. Cadets can be found, not only, across the U.S. but in Europe as well.
Recently the "Nauts" made headlines for paying homage to one of their heroes Neil Degrasse Tyson, an American astrophysicist and science communicator, with a snappy tune "I'm With Neil" on Youtube. The video has gone viral collecting tens of thousands of views prompting the attention of Neil Degrasse Tyson and a response on twitter to the band "Okay, I'm simultaneously flattered and weirded out by @ThePhenomenauts I'm With Neil". SF Weekly called The Phenomenauts Best Lifestyle Music artist and East Bay Express called them California's Best Live Band. The bands slogan is "Science and Honor".
When they are not touring the galaxy, their ships dock at the top-secret Command Center, located in the industrial heart of Earth’s Capitol, West Oakland, CA. It is the center of The Phenomenauts’ universe and serves as home, rehearsal studio, and think tank for all things related to the band, as well as location of their infamous parties. The Command Center was featured on the Discovery Channel, a three-page spread in Fat Mike’s (NOFX) magazine Punk Rock Confidential, and appears in the independent feature film Punk Rock Holocaust.
The Phenomenauts were honored with a private tour of NASA’s Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center in Houston, which included meetings with astronauts, scientists, and hands-on experience with space station parts and training facilities. Believed to be the first punk song ever to be broadcasts from space, the single “Infinite Frontier” was played aboard the International Space Station as the first wake-up call of the STS-124 mission in 2008.
Members include: Commander Angel Nova (guitar/vocals), Major Jimmy Boom (drums), Leftenent. AR7 (guitar/vocals), Professor Greg Arius (keyboard/effects), Atom Bomb (bass), Ensign Ion Malidée (keyboards/chaos theory).
